The term Trade Show Models (TSMs) is not one that is well known as many people think a model is a model.
However, they are quite different in their appearances as in the work they do.
Your Trade Show Models like fashion, lingerie and ramp varieties usually have what you call “must-have looks”: MUST HAVE LONG LEGS, MUST BE CERTAIN HEIGHTS, and MUST BE SLIM, etc.
For example, take your runway model who for example would be wearing such outrageous fashion and makeup as to what the designer wants to exhibit, to the point where many a time you don’t know what the actual model looks like
However, when it comes to the TSMs it is more of a general look as everything depends on the show they are doing and are more to do with approachable, friendly and convincing good looks and fashion sense.
They usually do trade shows, expos, or even conventions for companies or brands that they usually do not work for regularly.
This hiring usually is done through different types of agents that specialize in TSMs.
The main reason you would hire a TSMs is to assist in booths, events and show grounds for exhibitors, brands and company’s who needs help with selling or promoting their products or even ideas to the public or sometimes a selected group.
They are typically well educated (especially as they have to research the products that the company or brand that hired them to promote so they know what they are talking about), warm, demeanor and approachable, not just in looks but facial and body expressions and fashion sense.
Their typical duties would include:
GENERATING LEADS TO PRODUCTS AND BRANDS
HANDOUT AND OR DISCUSS PROMOTIONAL ITEMS
SCAN BADGES FOR DIGNITARIES
DEMONSTRATE A CERTAIN PRODUCT OR BRAND ITEM
DEMONSTRATE AND OR DISCUSS SERVICES A COMPANY MIGHT OFFER
ACT AS A FIT MODEL TO SHOW OFF CLOTHING FOR CERTAIN BRANDS LIKE WEDDING DRESSES FOR CERTAIN SHOPS SAY AT A BRIDAL CONVENTION
With all this been said, there are only five of these roles that all models will be expected to do for a company or brand that hires them and that would be:
1: DRAW ATTENTION:
2: CREATE THE IDEAL FIRST IMPRESSION:
3: GENERATE AND QUALIFY LEADS”
4: ASSIST OR DO PRODUCT DEMONSTRATIONS:
5: PROMOTE GAMING AND SOCIAL MEDIA:
So I you want to be one of these wonderful people, now you know what to do
