Isle of Wight Festival is celebrated annually in Newport on the Isle of Wight, England. It is one of the largest music festivals in the world and has found its origin from 1968-1970 as a counterculture event. The first festival was celebrated in Ford Farm near Godshill with over 10,000 attendants from 31 August to 1 September in 1968.

The 1970 event was the largest event of that time, with a attendee count of over 600,000.

There were 50 highlighted performers in 1970 event in Woodstock ie. Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Ten Years After, Emerson, Lake and Parmer, Joni Mitchell, Donovan, Richie Heavens, John Sebastian and a lot more. A film crew under director Murray Lerner filmed the whole event of 1970.
After observing the massive gathering in 1970 event, the Parliament added a new section to the Isle of Wight County Council Act 1971, which prohibited the fortnight gathering of more than 5000 people on the island without getting a special license from the council.

At Seaclose Park, Newport the event was revived in the year 2002. Since then it is celebrated as the leading music festival of Britain on annual basis along the fields of eastern Medina Valley. Amy Winehouse, Donovan, Ray Davies, Travis, Coldplay, The Zombies, Bryan Adams, Nile Rodgers and Chic, The Proclaimers, The High Kings, Paloma Faith and Kings of Leon have been performing in the consecutive festivals after 2002.

The last festival was held in the year 2019 from 13-16 June. It got a gathering of around 59,000 public audience. Wet Wet Wet, George Ezra, Fatboy Slim,Biffy Clyro and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds were the main highlights of the festival. The 2020 festival was cancelled due to Covid-19 pandemic and was virtually presented by Absolute Radio and Sky Arts by broadcasting selected acts from 1970 event.

The Isle of Wight Festivals have won 7 UK Festival Awards, two Live Music Business Awards, 3 Red Funnel Isle of Wight Awards and a lot more renowned awards till date.

Isle of Wight Festival 2021 was earlier scheduled for 17-20 June but has been postponed to 16-19 September. Liam Gallagher, Tom Jones, Snow Petrol, David Guetta, Duran Duran and Script are the main highlights of the upcoming festival. It is presented by Cinch. The online tickets for the festival can be booked from the official website of the festival. Anyone having tickets for 2020 festival can use those tickets to attend 2021 festival. The special recreational packages can also be booked online. Teen tickets, child tickets and infant tickets for four children are available with atleast one adult of 18 years or more.
